There is no cost to any of the service users that use the Back From The Brink Crisis Support Programme, Peer Support Programme or Mentor Programme. Our priority is your welfare and getting you back a place where you can cope. We anticipate that you will work with us to achieve this and we hope that without the worry of money interfering with your recovery, that you will have a better chance of getting yourself through this. There are many people involved behind the scenes who care about you.
This service is entirely run by volunteers and counsellors who are aware of what you have been through and dedicate much of their lives to supporting your education and recovery.
The team is small. Because of this, we are able to offer the service to only a small selection of people at any one time.
Our counsellors spend much of their time completing CPD, attending conferences relating to your needs or researching relevant papers and cases. They also require intense clinical supervision.
When not doing this, they are fundraising. Their tireless dedication never fails to humble us.
Our anonymous private sponsors are also acutely aware of what you have been through and want to help you. Without their financial support we simply could not operate. We are humbly grateful.
We will do all that we can to assist you or your family immediately with an emergency even if you are not already with our service but fear for a life or need help looking after a loved one.
You will receive an emergency consultation from a volunteer who will be able to signpost you to services that might be able to assist you. It will be a stand alone session, designed to swiftly and practically give you coping strategies and practical assistance.
Again, this is a free service.
It may be a family member, professional or friend calling for you, or you yourself needing immediate help.
Emergencies may take the form of:
Extreme anxiety
Panic Attack
Hopelessness
Hyperventilation
Loneliness
Overwhelming Grief
PTSD, cPTSD or Trauma
Self Harm or suicidality
Cognitive Dissonance
Psychosis
In the extreme case of imminent wish to cause injury by means of (sometimes fatal) self harm please do not contact us. You should contact 999 immediately and seek urgent medical assistance.
Many friends and family of those who have used our service wish to donate towards helping the next person be they the person in crisis or a person affected immediately by the impact of child removal on a loved one. You may wish to donate a stand alone crisis consultation to another person on this basis.
This is entirely your choice and is by no means obligatory or expected on our part. We have been requested to offer this service and it on that basis alone that we offer this opportunity.
You are my no means obliged to ‘pay it forward’. Just helping someone you care about who is in distress is enough of a payment for us at Back From The Brink.
